We moved to Florida in October of 2016.. one of the things we had not done was to photograph a wedding on the beach. Well, last week, we had a chance. It was fun - like when the little ring bearer went off script at the pure joy of being on the beach in his good shoes.... you don't have to take our word for it... :)
Why we do this..
Just today had a lovely exchange with someone we hardly know. This is what we work for.. When advising that we didn't yet know our availability for an event, we got this response:
"When will you know . We aren't really interested in someone else . You did our hotel Hershey party in January so we know we want that booth . "
Very nice industry award! We're humbled and gratified.
Here is what it says:
Today we're excited to announce GigMasters' Best of 2015! This prestigious award goes to GigMasters members who received 4 or more client reviews (of 4 stars or higher) in 2015. We're recognizing talented event professionals who went above and beyond to satisfy their clients last year. Four reviews was just the minimum - most of our winners flew past that earlier in the year. Congrats to all of the winners!
Gatsby Wedding Affair
Join us for a mock wedding event!
One of the hidden gems of the Susquehanna Valley is the historic “Lewisburg Club”. Founded in 1908, it is located at 131 Market Street right across the street from the Lewisburg Hotel. More than a dozen area specialists have gotten together to highlight this location and the talents of this region's wedding professionals. The Gatsby Wedding Affair will be a fun evening with food, drink, entertainment, and hundreds of dollars in prizes, and is limited to engaged couples.
Looking for ideas for your wedding and a chance to talk with local professionals in a party environment? Come to downtown Lewisburg on Friday, February 19th, 2016 from 6:30 to 9:00pm to the historic LewisburgClub. Put on your fascinators (think Princess Kate), find your “spats”, or any dressy attire would be “super duper!” This event is for couples only, those planning their weddings.
Snow date is March 4th, 2016.
The process is simple: register at gatsbyweddingaffair.weebly.com, email info@lewisburgclub.com, or call 570.392.9124!

Free Wedding Photography 2016
Free Winter Wedding Photography Give-A-Way
Free cuppa coffee and a donut to talk w/ us? See the bottom...
This story is all about you, NOT some fairy tale princess. Let us capture your beautiful moments in the coming wintertime, even if your prince has whisked you away to Bermuda for the kiss to awaken you from the deep slumber. To do this and to show your love story we are giving away one complete wedding coverage session.
Perhaps you were NOT going to hire a photographer, or you were going to use Uncle Bob who has a new camera, or were hoping that the photobooth or disposable cameras would create your wedding album. We understand, believe me, but why not have a little fun with the big event and dream a little?
Take a Quick Jump to The Happy Ending
(aka the prize)
Just exactly what is this story? Up to four hours of wedding coverage, digital proofs, and an 8x8 20 side signature wedding album of your winter wedding (even if it is on a tropical beach). Within our discretion, we are willing to consider paying our own travel and lodging, because we are crazy and spontaneous, from Canada to Cancun.
“But I’m not young, skinny or even pretty, what can be beautiful about me or my wedding?”. Each of us has some concern with something about our looks, yet each has qualities which attracts. Let us find yours.
Okay - What is the Real Price?
We are asking for your time to capture your beauty individually and as a couple, with time before your ceremony or perhaps on the day after, in a relaxed, unhurried but not wasteful manner. This offer is for a winter time, outside the normal wedding season wedding in North America, and will be used to promote our business. While we have been published twice in TheKnot, and beyond, we would like to be better known. We wish to work with real people who might help us with our dream. Our inspiration for this project are photographers like Jerry Ghionis and Yervant ; theirs are works which excite us with real couples and families, shown in a beautiful way. Those photographer’s couples allow them time to work and time to have fun doing so. We want your time (but won’t waste it). As another inspiration, Cliff Mautner has said, “it takes time to create these images.. I can’t pull this stuff out of my …” (he’s from Philly, you see).
Here is how it works
How to Enter:
Send a picture of yourselves (we believe in and support equality, so, no worries). Photos are about telling stories, and our Blog is about photography, so we need at least one photo! Have fun with this one.
Write a few words about yourself, and why you are interested not only in free photography, but in OUR coverage of your wedding. If you want something only because it is free, that is not a good starting place for either of us. If you have a friend who wants to write in support of your submission, that’s amazing.
Your names (ours are Chris & Nancy, by the way), and contact information should be included.
Your wedding date. Note - our weekends in December 2015 are pretty booked - but don’t hesitate to check anyway.
Your wedding location. As said, we can travel, having shot wedding work from Niagara Falls to Sonoma Valley, and even some work in Croatia. We have traveled to Guatemala, Puerto Rico, Mexico, Rome, Florence, Alaska, Canada and more. Even our wedding photo (above) was taken at sea, near Cococay, The Bahamas.
Please include a statement saying that you have read the rules and that you agree to the terms of the giveaway. This is important, which you’ll see when you read the rules.
The Rules
There will be no voting - this is not a popularity contest. Our review is on a first come, first considered basis, but we reserve the right to review several entries before making any award. We will respond to you. In going forward with a likely winner, we will consult with you in person, or on Skype, or by phone.
But first, please, you must review our website or other work to make sure we are the right photographers for you, before you apply. Feel free to ask for access to other portfolios. We each need to make sure that we are a match for one another. We are willing to give a lot for this project, and to work very closely with you. We very much believe in being fair to all concerned, and building friendships.
You must be 18 to enter and getting married in the winter. You may enter for yourselves, or, if the entry is for someone else, it should not be a surprise to that couple. You promise that all information submitted is true, current, and complete.
You cannot be booked with another professional photographer already (not even us). That would not be fair to all concerned.
All entries must be submitted electronically via email, and Strattons Photography is not responsible for any malfunction of the email or failure to respond to an incomplete submission or in general, for any oversight of your submission.
The date for your wedding must work for us. Your odds of being selected depend upon how many people enter. However, we might find a connection with the very first submission.
We have to be able to afford any travel expenses, so this might leave out your wedding on a $5,000 pp cruise, for example, unless you feel like chipping in.
Winners will be notified either in person, via Skype, or phone. It could be that we just love two or more copules, and we reserve the right to offer a second couple some killer deal.
The prize cannot be transferred. If there is some tax or surcharge or whatever some government might claim due because you have won, that’s on you. We state that this has NO actual cash value. Perhaps that will help, as it might should we go to a country which penalizes foreign photojournalists.
The winning couple agrees to being published on “www.strattons.us”, and other online or other publications.
By participating in this giveaway, you agree to be bound by The Rules.
Hey - click here and tell us what you think. We'll send you a gift card with a free coffee and donut from Dunkin Donuts!

Nicole and Scott - May 16th, 2015
What a blast – photo booth and SloMo video booth in one for Scott and Nicole. The SloMo video booth is a little tough to figure out, but these guys took right to it – see for yourself what you think!
Here’s a link to their video on YouTube: https://youtu.be/bhcHoiL_dk4
The regular photobooth experience uses great props, and we have been well received all along the Susquehanna River in Pennsylvania, down to Virginia and beyond (we are headed to Maryland this week)!
We also do commercial and portrait work!
Please, Google - Stop those annoying phone calls - the truth
Not all phone calls from people claiming to be associated with Google are legitimate.
The only noes you may receive a phone call from Google to verify your business (probably after you requested verification) or to confirm business details for Google Maps, or a call from a Google account manager, following up, one whom you’ve spoken with before.
Learn more about reporting and protecting yourself from robocalls
Google does NOT:
- charge for inclusion in Google My Business or in Google Search.
- offer to improve your search ranking or manage your business’s online profile.
- ask you for your password or verification code. You should never provide sensitive information about your account (like your password and verification code) to a caller.
If you receive a robocall—a call placed with a recorded voice—for any of the above reasons, it is not from Google. The Federal Trade Commission has established a Robocalls resources website with additional information about robocalls and steps you can take if you receive one.
How to get your business verified on Google!
Here is a link (click here).
Once you’ve verified your business information, updates you make to your local business—such as contact details, description, photos, business hours—are eligible to show up on Google Maps and other Google properties.
Before you add a local business, make sure that your business:
- Meets Google's guidelines.
- Has a mailing address or serves customers at its location(s). If you’d like to promote a brand, product, organization, or any other entity without an address, create a brand pageinstead.

I love it when a plan comes together! The goal – improve the online personality for a fine local bakery using the Google Trusted Photographer program to create business photos in the Google My Business View program. These 360 degree panorama’s show up in Google Search, Google Map, and Google+ locations (and more). Now, after the publishing of the business photos, notice the box which shows up to the right of the search results. .Pretty kewl, huh?

Winter Wedding Bridal Session - Bellefonte – PA
Sherry Tallon, CJ Samples, and I braved some very cold weather up a snow and ice covered dirt road for some photos last week. The wind was gusty to perhaps 20 miles per hour, and the temperature was about 38 degrees F. We had to engage (or dis-engage?) the anti-skid function on the trusty Scion XB to make it to the hiking-in point. We then lugged a wedding dress, tuxedo, camera, tripod, lightstand, flashes, dress shoes and more through the snowy trail. Once on the cliff face area, the rocks were ice covered and provided no level area to stand; this was a good area to slip and break a leg, and not in the theatrical sense! Sherry posed like a true professional and was un-complaining despite the bitter wind, slippery rocks and very real danger of hypothermia. CJ was just the same – although he had at least a wool tuxedo jacket to wear, his shoes were quite slippery and the rest of the wear far too thin for the elements. Still - we made it - and we each think the pix came out okay. .What do you think?

How would YOU describe a Cinemagraph?
